A la Cerdanya, tres genets amb tres Dracs, gaudint de la companyia i gaudint del vol.
La zona única, per a nosaltres i concretament per en Colorado el paradís del MTB, sí ho sé a conjunt amb Collserola.
L'anada fins a Martinet genuïna, la coca farcida de xocolata com a inici de l'aventura deliciosa, els deu primers quilòmetres de pujada dolços, els vint-i-cinc darrers senzillament complexes, però també perfectes.
L'esmorzar el que ha de ser, organitzat per en Colorado, sense catering és cert, però no era necessari i sort que no estava encarregat perquè en finalitzar sobtadament la ruta, aquest s'hauria fet malbé.
L'Iphone d'en Colorado providencial, fet que ens va permetre poder finalitzar la ruta amb un bon esmorzar.
Una conclusió que en cap cas va ser una sorpresa, no tenim pneumàtics de 29" per sortir, en Colorado va literalment destruir el ja malmès Python Tubeless Ready posterior. I avui per avui no veiem la llum.
XAMG les ales dels American Classic estan donant problemes en forma de trencament de radis.
Tot el que llegeixo del tema pneumàtics sense càmera és que van entre 28 i 32 psi.
La Moots Rigomootis de 26" va molt i molt bé.
M'agradaria tenir-ne una demà i tinc clar el muntatge des del primer moment.
La Vicious The Motivator SS és també una molt bona bike, diferent de la Moots, vers la Vicious aquesta primera molt més polivalent.
La Fox Terralogic de la Moots va molt i molt bé.
El manillar de la Moots és de MotoGP, quina por, però tampoc és menys cert que fa dos dies jo anava amb un encara més estret, així que tot és qüestió de amb què vas cada dia.
L'equipament que portava jo sensacional, no sé com però he de ser un xic menys previsor i portar menys carregades les tres butxaques posteriors, perquè si no el jersei passarà a ser una sotana.
Avui, rodant amb la Vicious m'adono que una evolució passaria per una 1x10, el que dèiem amb la Willits Trail King. un 40/36, per començar. Però no hi ha Willits, hi ha SS.
En Colorado és la joia de la corona, cal cuidar-lo, que és el que mirem de fer.
El dissabte anàvem no bé, no, si no que molt i molt elegants, és que si no ens ho diem nosaltres. També he de dir que mirant les fotos de la darrera aventura a la Cerdanya tots sense excepció anàvem de vint-i-un botons. Aquest any si no millor, del mateix nivell, jo diria que més fins i tot.
La Yeti-Betty és senzillament un conjunt fora d'escala.
Quin tacte que té, després de la darrera millora de les regulacions, la Fox RLC 2008, i que encertat que ha estat muntar el manillar Easton Monkey Lite SL.

12 Hour MTB race
The Bull Raid 12 Hour XC race takes place 7th August. I have just entered!!! SOLO!!!
Set in the grounds of Bellurgan Park Estate in County Louth, the northeasts first 12 hour Mountain Bike Race will take place later this year on Saturday 7th August.

The course will be an extension of the recent Leinster XC Championship round. This inaugural XC event, powered by the members of Cuchulainn CC, will consist of a solo category and teams of two and four riders.
The event will be chipped, riders will swap their chip in the pits. Overnight camping will be available, together with safe parking and facilities on site.

Gear Cables and Outers!
I have managed to explode the housing from my front gears. The gears did not seem to tight or like they were sticking. I was on a road going downhill went to change gear and heard a bang. When I looked down I could see the cable housing had exploded as I tried to change. This section is between the top tube and the front deraileur.
The outers are Jag Wire which I thought was very strong. I am going to replace cables and outers on both gears as the rear got a battering in Scotland also.
Question 1: Has this ever happened to any other bloggers?
Question 2: What is your thoughts on full enclosed outers? (I hear the gear changes will not be as smooth with fully enclosed.)

Day 3 Innerleithen XC loop
Innerleithen is only 5 mins drive from Glentress. This location has 4 top class downhill trails. It also has a 18km Red xc trail. The trail is sometimes forgotten about as it is so close to Glentress. As we had 4 days we wanted to try everything. The red trail was the trail of choice for day 3.
As this trail starts at the base of the downhill trails we had a big climb to begin with. "Stell Burn Climb" This was a very steep section. The trail builders have made this section as technical as they could with Rocky step ups and obsticles on the trail. I think as this was the third day riding and legs were getting tired it took a bit longer to warm up.
The next section was a welcome one. A flowing section through the trees with a few rocks to keep it technical. I pushed hard through this part as I could feel the legs slowly warming up. At the end was "Taniel Hill" This was a steep slope down then a step up jump. It was easy to roll this or get big air. After the jump two options straight ahead was a small slope or a tight right took you onto a wooden section with a drop off. We stayed and hit the jump a few times more then done the drop off.
There was a small section of forest road and at the end we took a small break. The next trail was one of the best climbs I have done. Not very steep but the single track was amazing. Starting with "Lead Mine Climb" this followed a very dense forest. It was so dense some sections felt like we were riding at night.
The dark feel about these trails had a Ghostly feel. Yet the lack of light did not stop the speed nor did it dampen our enthusiasm. We climbed on not really having an idea as to how much we were climbing due to the trees all around.
We crossed a forest road and back onto single track "Clattering Path". This section was very dark like something from a horror movie. It was quiet wide in places but the darkness made it feel very compact and almost claustrophobic. I really had my climbing legs on and was going very fast. I couldnt hear anyone behind me so eased the pace to let the others catch up.
Even with me slowing they still hadnt caught up so I stopped for a photo at the hairpin below. From here the forest was less dense. With some corners we got to see the sky. We still had no idea of the climb or the land around us. The guys caught up and they took a short break. I think 3 days riding was starting to catch up on some of these guys. Most of them ride 1 day a week and very short distances. Even with tired legs we all pressed on.
"Minch Moor Climb" This climb continued in the forest but soon we would leave the trees behind and move above them on open mountain. This was the first real view of what we had climbed and where we had started from.
The trail narrowed as we left the forest for open mountain. We passed through the heather like there wasnt a trail. If we stepped of the trail and looked back we couldnt see the trail. To look at the mountain it seemed like nature had not been interfered with. I think the trail builders have very cleverly designed a path way through these mountains without taking away from the natural beauty.
As we climb through the heather I find myself looking around a lot. The views were breath taking. The series of photos above are a 180 degree view of the trail and loandscape around me. These photos can only remind me of the journey I have been on. They cannot show this land for the true beauty and vastness that we experianced on our days riding.
At the top of Minch Moor a small 567m the stone pile. The wind was very strong at this point so we decided to push down the other side for a bit more shelter and a lunch stop.
"Minch Moor Descent" Was one of the best descents of the trip. The descent was fast but not like a Downhill Trail. Flowing bermed corners, Table top jumps, rocky step ups and step downs. The trail seemed to go on and on. We followed the trail back into the trees and it got narrow in places. The pace was fast and a few big shouts from the riders just made the atmosphere more electric. Smiles all around at the lunch stop. Even the light rain couldnt take away the smiles.
The "Enduro Track" Trail just carried on the descent. After this a long section of forest road and time to get the heart rate back to normal. We pushed on to the next single track "Plora Craig" This section was very fast Narrow and caught me out on one section. It was hard to get a view at what was coming up as the foliage was quite high. I came around a corner with a medium drop and ended up taking it too fast and had a small crash. I bounced back up give the others a shout warning them of the drop and on I went.
"Razor Rock" Was a small section of Black trail that we had to try. Very rocky and technical but good fun and something different. We joined the red again and followed this single track all the way to the bottom section of the Downhill Trails. We took a break as the rain came on. It give us time to ask a few locals what was next on the trail. A very steep section with rock drops getting bigger as the trail dropped back down the valley.
This small bit of Downhill was smoother than the usual Downhill but that meant the speed was a lot faster than the red descents. Big high berms with sudden drops into step up jumps table tops and more berms. This section was very fast and had some big jumps compared to the Red trail. At the end of the trail we met a few guys from home and had a good chat about the trails and the accommodation etc. It was a reasonably dry day but as you can see below I still managed to get quiet dirty.
We packed the car up and drove the short distance back over to Glentress. We spent the afternoon at the bike park and the trails around the bike park.
Another nice evening and a great ride under our belts. The mood was still good but a lot of tired legs and faces.

La Cerdanya pot esperar
Sovint, les coses no surten com les havíem planejat.
Dissabte 24 de juliol era el dia previst per realitzar la ruta de la Cerdanya d'en Colorado, que com ell diu està "gafada", potser sí, però ahir vàrem tornar de Martinet amb la promesa que aquest 2010, ni que sigui el dia 31 de desembre farem la ruta passant pels Estanys de la Pera.
Enguany, quan encara no havíem fet la parada obligatòria per prendre l'esmorzar/dinar a Arànser, ja érem coneixedors de que l'aventura de la jornada havia finalitzat.
L'emoció de la jornada, havia començat just divendres a les quatre de la tarda quan vàrem rebre un SMS d'en Colorado que deia "Demà és el gran dia!!!". A partir d'aquí, tensió, nervis, il.lusió, emoció, tot el que envolta saber que a l'endemà t'espera una jornada BIKER amb majúscules.
Dissabte, a les 05:00AM sonava el despertador, ja ho teníem tot a punt, només restava carregar les bikes a la furgo i marxar, uns minuts abans de les sis marxàvem de casa i primer "disgust" del dia, a Mataró me'n adono que m'he oblidat el Paclite, i a part dels manegots no porto res per abrigar, i el clima de la Cerdanya, res té a veure amb el del Maresme. Abans de girar cua i tornar cap a casa a buscar-lo, trucada a en Colorado, que previsor com sempre, ha agafat de tot per abrigar, no cal recular ell em deixarà alguna de les seves jaquetes.
A les set del matí ens trobem amb en Colorado al punt acordat per fer la resta de camí fins a Martinet plegats, i així fem la resta de quilòmetres xerrant i xerrant de, bé, de què podria ser? bikes, bikes i més bikes!!!!
Arribats a Martinet, baixem del cotxe i fa un fred que pela, feia setmanes que no tenia sensació de fred, quin plaer! Encara no hem fet ni un cop de pedal i ja tenim gana, anem bé, doncs cap a la fleca del poble, on ens espera una coca de pinyons farcida de xocolata digna de ser catalogada com a patrimoni de la humanitat.
Ara sí, preparats i atipats, comença l'aventura. A les 08:41 sortim de Martinet tot pedalant vora el riu, la temperatura més que agradable, un bon solet però amb sensació de fresqueta, anem encara abrigats. En poca estona ja hem de baixar de la bike per poder fer el tram desprès.
Abans d'encaminar-nos cap a Prullans ja ens hem de treure armilles i manegots per continuar escalant sense sufocar-nos.
Anem fent ruta, amb un trànsit rodat gens habitual, la conversa es va animant, nosaltres també, ens trobem bé, el ritme és ideal, el clima de somni. Què més podem demanar?
Parades obligatòries, per assimilar que som uns privilegiats, i poder gaudir de les vistes que ens regala el dia.
I seguim pedalant, fent camí cap a l'esmorzar, gaudint del paratge, dels prats i dels camins, recordant i retenint a la memòria les noves sensacions de pedalar per un entorn que no puc gaudir més que un dos cops en tot un any, mentre pedalo penso que va ser ahir que vaig passar-hi, sembla que el temps s'aturi perquè no me'n adoni que just fa un any hi pedalàvem, igual que ahir, un grup de bikers, feliços i somrients, gaudint de la llibertat de poder-nos moure amunt i avall amb les nostres bikes.
Abans de fer parada per esmorzar, ens esperava un mai acabar de prats verds. Una autèntic plaer per a tots els sentits poder-hi pedalar.
Un bon pa amb tomàquet amb fuet i formatge unes coles i una canyeta ens esperaven abans de tornar, aquest any amb menys quilòmetres que mai al nostre punt d'origen.
La tornada va ser tot un divertiment, tornar a veure lagranevasio enfilat a una bike amb roda 26" arrossegant plat com si res, i en Colorado enfilat a una majestuosa 29" SS, perquè ens anem acostumant al que serà veure'l d'aquí a no res.
I avall avall que fa baixada, gaudint de la tornada, amb el desig que en breu hi tornarem a rodar.
I un és lliure de triar la manera de baixar.
Just sortint de Travesseres i encarant l´últim descens de la curta jornada biker, cap a Martinet l'auguri de lagranevasio, que temia que el seu pneumàtic Hutchinson Python estava al límit es va complir; tall intapable, pensar que únicament ens quedava un quilometret per arribar, després d'haver fet dues mil manxades, ens anima a arribar al poble caminant. Finalment en són quatre de quilòmetres caminant, però es fan molt distrets perquè encara ho tenim més bé, sobretot en Colorado i lagranevasio per xerrar pels descosits i discutir sobre el camí que es pensa dirigir la indústria pneumàtica per poder satisfer la demanda cada vegada més important del biker que prega, i demana a crits un pneumàtic TUBELESS 29".

Demà Replay Cerdanya.
Demà trinxat, demà trinxat, demà trinxat.
Molts són els dies que amb en Colorado hem parlat del darrer sopar a la Cerdanya.
Poc s'ha parlat de la darrera sortida, millor dit gens. Però del darrer sopar de la mateixa sortida, renoi, quin sopar, genets i més genets al voltant d'una bona taula, quin gaudir per gaudir.
La sortida, bé serà el que serà, aquest cop mirarem de fer els Llacs de la Pera, però podria ser que com sempre quedi per un darrer dia.
No anirem dora, tampoc acabarem dora, si arribem massa aviat, estarem fent temps esperant l'hora per sopar.
Per a mi demà serà un nou repte, la meva primera Cerdanya en 29", sí, i amb SS, també.
Els nervis ja són presents, cal acabar de posar a punt els Dracs, perquè demà hem de fer un bon vol, un vol clàssic a un lloc mític, on ser-hi és ser.
Dia de creadors, de bones converses de pur MTB, on l'espai és el lloc, on les pujades són eternes, on demà no se si serà dia de posar peu a terra ara sí, ara també.
