Paris Mt., new apparel ... new sensations

We are testing new apparel, in the last days  I had to renew part of my old MTB partners, I still have them just in case of emergency, but the time has made them cross a line where I can't use them anymore for the same purpose.

I already spoke about the POC Octal helmet, and on the next days I will also talk about new shoes, as the Specialazed S-Works are being retired after years of service.

POC Octal AVIP

After years and years with the Cratoni Achillon and previously different Giro models, I decided it was time to turn ahead and look for something different, in line with the new Fat Bike. It's fun when you look on what's on the market and you feel everything is the same, despite I found my nich...POC.

POC is a Swedish manufacturer, initially specialized in Ski helmets and other MTB gear, they finally decided to enter the Road Bike Helmet market with their new Octal helmet. Lightweight with less than 200 gr, is a nice and different design (nice if you lie it...I know people that just don't) with great features like the "eye garage" to place and retain the glasses if you don't need them for a while.

See attached pics, I choose the white option instead of the blue as I will use this helmets with all my bikes, and the blue was only an option with the Ventana El Gordo.

The fit is perfect, with more protection on the lower rear side of the head, feels really light and even with less but bigger opennings the ventilation can't be an issue. Today we will try it @ Paris Mt. on another nice Septembber Sunday in Greenville SC.

Welcome home Ventana El Gordo !!!!

Dear friends

Finally we got the Ventana in Greenville. It's been a nice process, thanks Adam from Richard Bikes for the work, I always feel the time spent building a bike is worth, especially if you plan to have it for then next 10 years ... or more.

And yes, I said 10 years, the Ibis Mojo it's been with me for 8 years now, and I don't plan to sell the bike, I will still ride it. Then I have my Cannonade F3000 ... my old machine, actually in Manresa, in "El Rey del Bages" territory, but planning to bring her home, to have all the family reunited :)

Lets talk about the Ventana ... OMG, what a bike, if I was freaking out with the pictures and the info on the different web sites, I have no words to describe how good it looks when you're close to the real bike.

The color, the color, the color ... OMG, this Sky Blue with metallic flakes it's just amazing, the details on the logos, the weldings, the drop-outs ... what to say, I need more time to analyze.

It's night in SC, and you know how much I love nights, when I have a coke with me because there is something worth to spend an hour in front of the computer ... do you remember?

Anyway ...  some pictures, this is the new baby, the Ventana El Gordo ... here we go !!!!
